On Sunday 31st. of July as part of National Fishing Month a crab catching competion is being held on the Glass Centre Promenade in the the River Wear. The competition is open to all juniors under 17 years of age. Entry is FREE, and there is a good prize list.
There are two catagories, up to 12 years of age (who must be accompanied by an adult) and up to 17. Fishing is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. registration is from 1 p.m. on the promenade next to the Sunderland Glass Centre. NO rods, reels or hooks are allowed, all competitors will be supplied with a handline and bait. Please bring a bucket or other container so that the crabs can be returned alive after the competition.
All competitors will receive free membership of the Angling Trust.
Prizes will be awarded for most crabs caught. Walkers Crisps and Thorntons have kindly given some crisps and chocolates to keep the competitors strength up while pulling all those crabs in, and the bait has been supplied by Baitbox of Grimsby.

My 2 kids fancy entering this but what will it be like getting to the Glass Centre from Peterlee whilst the airshow is on.

I normally keep away from Sunderland when the airshow is on, does anyone know how bad the roads usually are and what the parking will be like.

          Cheers
