A provisional date at the moment is looking like Oct 9th, so got approx 10 weeks to get it sorted, times and venue to be decided, If anyone knows of any conflicting matches on this day could you please let me know. Should we all line one beach or should it be an open? Heaviest fish heaviest bag seems the simplest way forward and Mr Charlton has offered his services for that. I am awaiting a reply for a certain early morning registration and weigh in venue and will let you's know ASAP. Hopefully will get some posters and tickets in the tackle shops a couple of weeks beforehand. If anybody can help with the sorting of tickets it will be a great help.
I'l have a word with Andy Copeland and see if i can get their youngin to sort some artwork out for a poster, he works for times warner so i might get one with Lightning Mqueen on
If any of the tackle shop owners that frequent this site can help out in any way please dont be shy and speak up, we know times are hard we are all feeling the pinch but with a bit of luck this will chuck some lads through the doors and cement your names throughout the region as any donors will be publicised for the event.
Now...it is a fundraiser and as such the idea is to raise as much funds as possible so...what figure should we suggest lads "donate" in order to take part As mentioned above times are not the easiest they have been, and the last thing we want is for people to be put off attending because 1 they cant afford it and 2 because there is no winnings to be had. I will do my best to get some prizes together but can not promise anything at this moment. Myself personally suggests that £5 a man/woman/bairn is donated to take part however each individual can if "they wish" donate more. That is my thought on it, what do you's think

I would prefer an open with boundaries possibly icehouse to amble pier. the only problem i see with the date though is that its going to be fishing all of the flood as low waters at 07:58 which means people wanting to fish rock marks are not going to get very long on them if the match starts at like 9. Also would be happy with the £5 suggestion.Last edited by adam123; 23-07-2011, 12:30 AM.

Need to remember though that we are hoping to attract lads from Boro maybe even north yorkshire right the way up to Berwick if we can, so the boundary may need to be set lower also, and there are plenty of marks that fish or at least should fish a couple of hours either side of HW. Thanks for the reply though mate and i hope whatever is decided you will participate

Count me in mate.....As its for a very worth while cause lets get as many as we can to join in and is there any chance you can get some free publicity from any of the local newspapers to increase the numbers.Any chance of getting local tackle shops to sponsor the event and a donate a few small prizes for the winners so ALL of the pot can be donated. Just a thought i had for a title for it........."The ICU Open 2011" Sea angling fundraiser or "Fish For Pride Open 2011" ICU Sea Angling Fundraiser.Last edited by WolfyDave; 23-07-2011, 12:08 PM.

Good cause, I'd be up for it mate competitions that offer cash prizes are allways dodgey. Winter Amble open every year I see anglers handing all their fish to one person and then sharing heaviest bag winnings. Just not right. So I'd be up for thisCod Mission: Cod over 5lb!
Success: 27/09/12
PB COD!!!: 9lb 13OZ!
Chance of Success?: Dismal, But possible!

I;ll give it all the publicity I can, both on B.B.C. Radio and in the Chronicle. Why don't you give me a ring and I'll arrange to meet you somewhere and I'll record an interview with you for the angling programme on B.B.C. You never know someone listening might offer to sponsor the competition.
My number is 0191 5184561.
Tight Lines, Sam.

What about doing this in conjunction with the North vs South annual NESA comp Ed? I'll be up for it either way. We could maybe have a large boundary of both north and south territories (boundaires still to be decided though) and weigh in somewhere at the Tyne? This not only opens up the comp boundaries up but gives people more of a chance of fishing somewhere they know. Any prizes could be put up for a raffle on the night also to raise some extra funds. This may also open up the opportunities for more tackle shops to participate in sponsorship. Just a few ideas bud and good luck with a good cause. You can count on me for any help needed on the nightPut back what you don't need.

If the North v South comp would like to tag onto this event Darren then the more the merrier i say. We are looking at a heaviest fish meet with hopefully a trophy for 1st n 2nd. Also provisional expected boundary as far south as Blackhall rocks and as far north as the river Aln "provisional" still to be agreed.
The north v south is ran in teams as i see it however, this meet is looking like being called The Cock Of The North, im thinking that lads should still let it be known whether they are Mag, Mackem, Poolie etc oh or Smoggie and that way the one individual winner could give the bragging rights to all other Anglers from that area.
I have put my feelers out for sponsors and will update as and when that happens. Tackle shop owners beware, i have not started down that route yet Also if any members can get their hands on a prize through their works etc please do and let me know.

Just a very quick and short update for this event.
David Storey author of "The Codling Crouch" has offered to donate a couple of his books for the cause, Thanks David it gets the ball rolling mate
Also i have just had news through from Gary Williamson of Outcast High Performance Tackle that he will also be sponsoring the event in some way and donating a prize for the table. As some of you lads will already know, the outcast sinker is basically the bees knees when it comes to getting those extra few yards on your cast with the added failsafe of being able to perform the OTG cast to precision every time. You can see more of these leads at Outcast HPT Home Once again it is very much appreciated mate cheers.
Duncan "Lingking" has offered a couple of boat moulds up, which i intend to shift on fleabay, and any proceeds from the sale will be turned into a tackle voucher of some kind. A very kind gesture Duncan, thank you.
As all of you lads know already, this get together is primarily a fundraiser for the Intensive Care Unit first and foremost. This alone will make the event unique in the fact that no matter what the outcome we will be fishing for nowt but pride. However as promised i will do my best to get what i can from where i can to try and make up some kind of prize table.
I will be meeting up with Sam Harris in the morning and with a bit of luck if i put my posh phone voice on and grovel enough somebody might just hear it and think ahhhhh and offer whatever they can, which will be a boost.
Ok so maybe not a very quick update, but that is where we are at the moment. If any lads have anything they would like to contribute for the cause then please shout up.
Oh and it is looking like the trophy for 1st and 2nd is sorted also.
Is there any chance of getting this thread made a sticky please for the time being. Thank you.
Ed.
