first you need to wipe all the inside down to remove all old oil/grease then remove the bearings from either side of reel dip them in parafin then stick em in a ashtray and set them alight this removes all crap from bearings once done put bearings back in then get a bottle of TG rocket fuel and put one drop in each end of spool some lads also put a drop around the rim of the spool but i dont bother stick it back together and bobs ya uncle dont go crazy on the oil as it will slow the reel down and never use wd40

Try this address below it will give you a heads up on basic maintance of the 2 spool bearings, go easy not to damage the plastic white cap or damage the spool. there are also bearings in the gear box side as well but if it runs sweet after a spool bearing re-oil that should be ok unless the reel has had a bath in the sea or used on the beach and sand has got in, this can act as a grinding paste when it mixes into the grease in the reel.

Reel grease i normally use a outbound motor marine grade grease i find that holds up the best compared to any of the standard reel greases.

Cheers lads, works sweet as a nut. I rinse reel after every sesh but i think general wear and tear removed the grease. Reel is so much nicer now, no sounds that make me worry anymore
