Multiplier for a novice shore fisherman

Hi

I am a member of a predominantly boat fishing club who has done a bit of shore fishing, biut I still class myself as a novice.

Another member is starting to go share angling and has asked for suggestions for a multiplier. Most of the fishing will be in fairly clean ground off the Holderness coast or over rocks at Anglesey.

I was thinking either an Abu Mag Elite or Daiawa 7HT for the clean ground and either a SL20sh or SL30sh for the rougher ground and for uptiding. What do others think?

Hi Fred I would recommend the slosh range,it never nests up if used properly and is suitable for clean or rough ground,its a very popular reel,Its also suitable for the boats as well.

when I got back in to shore fishing a few years ago I bought a couple of cheap multipliers. combined with my crap casting it was a nightmare. Bought a slosh and never had a problem (except when I tried it before xmas with spiderwire braid still onit!)

my advice would also be get a slosh 30, 35lb mainline straight through and you should be laughing

thats what I use Mark,35lb yo zuri with a shockleader,shame they don\'t make the yo zuri line anymore,think I\'ve got enough for one more fill up.

FWIW, if anyone ever contemplates buying spiderwire braid, don\'t, it\'s pants. Had it on the reel for the boat and it was pants then as well. In fact its worse than pants, its was John McCrirricks pants

can\'t see how it could ever be good. The outher sheath on the braid is way too stiff, the inner too soft. Cos the outer is hard it damages really easily, exposing the inner. Its a complete bitch to bed in and get to lay flat, the outer seems as though its too big for the inner so the line flattens out when its had pressure on the spool, which makes it twist, which makes it not lie flat on the spool etc etc etc

just heard some more slates go a while back, roofer here the morrra all being well. Reckon the wind was higher earlier than it was the other night and its been lashing down most of the day

welcome to the board Fred. I use a penn 525 gs for clean ground fishing and a penn 535gs for the rough stuff. Once you have them tuned to suit you they are great.

look in sea angler got some good deals in there at the moment

torbay angling they are doing the new slh30shv? for £80 good price but not sure on the availability.

just got nthe new thirty model from poindestres for £90 inc P&P they have got a price match policy in place not a bad deal.

Mainwarings worth a look..........

luv slosh 30s was a good rel till bro inlaw borrowed it. gag1 what are the5 25 gs like wife won one for me in the xmas comp,,, do you leave all brakes in ( 4 ) or do you take 2 out. have filled mine with 20 lb sensor plus shocker.
