  • Grip tape for rods

Any idea where you can get the really rough grip tape for rods ,its like a rubber sandpaper type of stuff - it is on the Longbeach/ response (well its on most) - i asked Terry today BUT he wouldnt tell me, as its a trade secret or some bullsh*t answer anyway - and after i have RECOMMENDED his Rod to just about Everyone Who has asked about \"Their Views\" on a good rock rod/casting rod - its called word of mouth advertising- but hey what the hell his secret will remain - So does anyone Know where to get it so i can buy it all and sell it Back to Woodsy LOL

i wasnt dodgy when i was spending hundreds of pounds in his shop - not my fault i got a PC and the small stuff ,hooks/swivels/line etc are cheaper on line, i have and more than likely will always get my suits/ rods/etc from terry ,so thats why i find it strange he wouldnt tell me or even sell me some , my money in the past is as they say in the past- doesnt exactly tempt you to even check the prices against on line shopping.

Good points Bri. I have never been in his shop so I dont know the guy but it does seem a bit strange when you have spent your hard earned cash there.

                cheers.

Terry looks after his regulars like any other shop would, he knows the p*ss takers (not saying your one of them Bri) but Terry reads the board as well.

Didnt want to attach this to my post on neoprene waders as it might not get read as much.

Just got a pair of Daiwa neoprenes for £49.99 from Frasers on Coatsworth Rd, and considering the fact i have never shopped in there before the guy couldnt have been more helpful if he had given them to me, for nowt, i also needed a bulb for my headlamp, again no bother ,then i mentioned i am in a club and you know what he then takes 10% off my bill- So this is the reason its a new topic and not attatched to the first post.

CREDIT where CREDIT is due - but i know where my £££s will be going in future - it costs nowt to be civil and it goes a long way , No p*ss taking in this Shop Ell, as i know you had a bit of a do over yours one day.

                      AND your point is ???

Terry told me to go to frasers AS HE CANT compete with the PRICE of the waders - if you pull up all my posts Simon you will see that i am Quite civil towards Terry (many times recommending his Rods )

I am fully aware Terry reads the board - he took the p*ss out of me when i was talking to him at the Shields open ,where he Quoted the very post about Frasers verse for verse - but again shrugged it off as not being able to compete- Terry has always helped me when i have asked for it - THAT is why i was supprised he DIDNT this time

Dont know the relevance in bringing my post about Frasers up again , but thanks anyway

Never been back since, didn\'t use it much anyway. It was customers / squatters taking the mick btw not the lads working there.

Not having a go or out Bri, just trying to point somthing out, you have said in that post and another, that you know where your money will be going in the future, ie Frazers, then you wonder why terry wouldn\'t sell you any grip tape.

I don\'t know why he didn\'t tell you where you could buy some though, maybe he thought you would of found out of frazers lol Anyone who uses Terrys shop on a regular basis knows he can be a bit short and to the point, he will be the first to tell you he can be a bit outspoken its just his way.
He can be when the mood takes him a very nice person, he is forthcoming with info and you can have a laugh with him.

Yes I would have to agree, but like you said yourself he told you to go to Frazers as he couldn\'t compete with some of his prices,

I\' ve seen a customer come into the shop wanting to buy a £200 plus rod only to see Terry talk him out of it and the customer leave with a rod for just over £100. A couple of years ago I had a few hundred pounds burning a hole in my pocket, I already had the longbeach and I wanted the Blue Thunder, Terry talked me out of it, where\'s the sense in that. Is that bad bussines sense or good, he was looking out for the customer, alot more than some tackle shops would do, others will take all the money you are prepared to throw at them.
