  • Fishing line in the freezer???

Following on from the mussel thread and the mess it makes when whipping them on, has anyone ever whipped bait onto a pre tied hook.

Have been thinking of doing up big baits, like runny mussel and squid wraps, freezing them and then putting them in a food flask when going out.

Take out as required, clip on, cast out and let the salt water defrost them.

    Is it a sensible idea???
As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

Yep done it loads of times its ok - gets your bait into the water pretty damn quick if your fishing a match - i did it with a fresh crab and squid bait the other month as the crab was \"bursting out its back- and would have had to be froze anyway\" - and got into one 5lb 3oz which took me on my way to the heaviest bag in our (cleadon club) match :P :P

Got to agree. Used to do it loads and it is worth it.
Hiram (Paul) posted about putting mussel on straws and either freezing it or taking it with you ( to save wannying about on a cold beach lol) Believe me when it is way below freezing it is worth doing.

Same here. If I\'ve got any blow lug left after a session and I know I won\'t be out dofr a while, I pile it onto pennels, wrap them in cling film and bang them in the freezer. Take 1 or two out with you in a food flask, and like BriH says, you can use them first chuck while you\'re sorting the rest of your bait/traces out. Had fish to 5lb on it

Used to do that quite a bit Davey. As you say it gets you into the water pretty quick when you first go out. I find so many times when I go out normally, I just bait up with two or three worms for my first chuck and get it out quick instead of tying something onto the hook.
