Ive seen this advertised on Amble SAC's website, i really like the sound of it, i have never fished a competition nor been in a club, mostly just for a hobby. But this sounds fun, maybe ill enter to see whats its like..

This may seem like a really stupid question but i was wondering about the rules, i mean there are some pretty secluded spots between Seahouses and Lynemouth, so am i aloud to fish on my own? Because whos to say people wont use more than 1 rod or 3 hooks. Or maybe they might choose a mark thats just outside the boundries, or someone may choose a mark as close to Radcliffe Club as possible so they can fish for an extra 45mins.. Like i said, its probly stupid questions or has a really obvious answer but it would be good to know
    "Im going fishing tonight"
    "Are you mad?!"
    "I must be"

      Hi Pokerman....

Most opens up here are pretty much self-policing. Regulars will always keep an eye out for anything suspicious happening, and we will have marshalls out and about to make sure thing run as smoothly as possible.

Also, a lot of anglers prefer to fish alone, it's their choice.

Come along and have a go....you'll enjoy it !

I was wondering the same, also are there only the three prizes or will there be anything for 2nd, 3rd etc? (depending as you say on the number of entrants).

            Cheers, Gary

Three single hooks, or one treble.
If you want to lure fish, be sure the lures only have one treble attached.

Regarding the prize money, the more entries, the more prizes.

It's difficult to put a figure on this when we don't know how many will be fishing. We will try to spread out the pot so that as many as possible get something.

Last years summer open was used to raise cash for the club after a disastrous winter comp, when there was 6 inches of snow on the day of the match, and we lost a considerable amount of money. We were fortunate enough to have a good selection of prizes donated by Sea Angler magazine who were very generous in their support of the club.

This years comp is purely for the lads and lasses who want a summer open to fish. We aren't making anything from it, so if fewer prizes puts a few folk off, then so be it.

There are Penn points on offer too, which always attracts anglers.
