I am particularly interested in the Howick/Craster area, i walked from the doctors house into craster village, some nice spots along the way, was high tide when i walked along though so didnt get the feel of what the marks i was looking at would be at low tide.

heading towards the castle would be my choice any of the gullies or rocks can produce fish evening tides are best in previous years i,ve had 2 20lb plus bags with fish up to 7lb fresh crab is a must or frozen with a bit mussel mixed into bulk bait out really heavy ground but when you get a nice reddy its worth it or south you,ve got submarine hole, rumbling kern,or again on the approach to cullernose swine dene is my favourite i,ve never had any big fish from this mark but quite a few biggest was a wrasse of 5lb bragging again lol hope you have some look while the sea is settled

haven't had a look at weather, swells and stuff on magic seaweed, you could do with a fairly flat sea if you are heading up howick, craster area, school point maybe worth a shot, or 2nd gulley, right hand side. though the gates heading to the castle. if you get to the big tree trunk you are at the left hand side of that gulley, pretty rough ground so take some heavy gear.

Never fished it but that inlet gulley around halfway between craster and cullernose looks worthy of a shot, anyone know where I mean and fished it?

if i think where you are talking about, it's called the black hole, someone may correct me on that. fished it a few times with little luck but maybe i fished it in the wrong conditions.

I know the thread was about low water marks but the black hole (i think that must be it) looks like a high water mark to me but like I said I've never fished it just passed it when walking along. In fact that whole stretch from cullernose to craster looks inviting for a chuck, looks tackle hungry also like.

Im not really looking to head up as far as the castle tomorrow but still appreciate the heads up, ill take note for future sessions. Not really sure where marks such as school point, submarine hole or swine dene are located.

Yeah i think i know where you mean, the inlet between cullernose and craster, i really fancied fishing there, not sure what it would be like at low tide.

That's part of fishing I think mate, trying new marks and discovering what they can turn up. Good luck and hope you put a canny catch report on.

you are probably right about the black hole being a high water mark come to think of it, school point from the black hole you could fish at low water. left from the black hole heading towards craster just before the playing field. i have had a few decent fish from there.

I think ill save the black hole for high tide, i was going to take 2 rods one for bait and one for spinning...

So ill have to choose between school point (anymore info on there) or somewhere around rumbling kern or doctors house.

Ill take plenty leads and pulleys since i assume nearly of those marks are tackle hungry.

you are not kidding but normally with a rotten bottom set up only lose weights. its a funny place craster, one trip might only lose one or two weights, other times it's a weight every cast.
