    hi all
    could anyone tell me if there is a best time of the tide to spin for makeral from south shields pier or does it not matter what time

    over high water plus less of a lift but it does not mean the mackey are thier they can show any stage of the tide

      Pretty much anywhere around wheel a couple of hours up too and over the high water. Try the small wall on the left hand side of the pier (easy to spot as it is usualy full of guys with spinners!!) Or maybe just 50yds before the end on the right hand side at the Blocks. Always a chance of a nice Pollack or Coalie along with Maccys. Lower water and the fish tend to stay off the end and you might struggle with a spinning rod

              anytime daylight, dusk till dawn there ther in all tides its just hit and miss.. i was there last night and no one else was catching mackerel apart from me, ended up with 14 in 3 hours
