Do the tyres need to have a minimum tread depth requirement or pass an mot check?

what you have to remeber is that tyres stop the crab going into the natural habitats they normally would go where they where avaiable for all, whereas those that put tyres out think all the crabs are theirs, they are not, the tyres are but the crabs are not. And before you ask I had quite a few tyres both in the Tyne and Blyth, if anybody did them when I wasn't there that was their good luck. And the only reason I put tyres down was to make sure I got a few crab, if I hadn't there where no crab in the places I had got an ample supply for many years, as did my uncles and grandfather.

can totally see why people would be protective over there tyres, with all the effort they put in and the possible rewards that can be gained both financially and to there fishing, but with respect to that court case how many tyres does one angler need to put out, and how many does some need to put out to make money be that officially or to supplement a rockafella lifestyle while on the dole.

Also at which point do we have to say that we don't want the coastline looking like a scrap yard.

i would not touch anyones tyres , its a lot off hard work for the lads who put them down and keep them clean but what i would do is go down at low water and ask the lad if he would sell me some cheaper

Exactly my point mate. If anybody asked me for a few crab whilst am doing my tyres i would happily oblige and sell them some. It's when your crabbing or about to and some buggers doon there helping himself to the rewards all me hard work, really boils ya blood.

I am wondering what the rules are regarding tyres. I genuinley don't know being fairly new to sea fishing, and am just after some clarity regarding the issue as so to not get myself into any bother. Is it simply:

                                a) Don't check them if they are not yours, leave well alone....

                                or

                                b) If there is no one at the location checking them at the same time as you, go ahead and check them and if the owner then turns up leave the rest alone for them to the do?

I can undertand the owners of tyres mostly saying a) but if an owner isn't there to check them would it cause a lot of bother if someone resorted to b) and what are the reasons why.

I am only looking to collect enough fresh crabs for a session here and there in the quickest possible time and am not looking to be greedy collecting far more than I would ever use. Up to now I look under rocks and in rock pools but like I say was just wondering about the tyre situation.

why don't you go one better mate, put your own tyres out somewhere just a thought
