    hi guys was just wondering about drop lengths when it comes to spinning rods . i inted to use lures and spinners on an 8ft spinning rod..what is the best drop to achieve maximum distance and how hard would ya belt a spinning rod thats rated 12g-32 g ....it an abu but then again i am yet to hammer it ,,,,any advise would be appreciated thx

    What ever drop ya feel comfortable with mate try different length when ya casting and you will find the one you feel is right for you some will have a 2 foot drop and some will have it sorter

    When it comes to casting you dont have to hit it hard to get distance.

      i use a 10ft rod but have a drop about half the length from tip to reel seat... and i use 6lb line with a 12lb length of "leader" and can put a 40g spinner 80-100yrds i would say on a good day.

      My rods a old ron tompson thing, but it bends to the butt, love it too much to upgrade yet

      Oh, and a little hint if your fishing into a headwind, a shorter drop and let go later in your cast to send it lower/more direct
