    Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone knows the area well enough to give a bit of advice on fishing this mark at this time of year.

Been down a few times in the last few weeks, and fished the gulley from the beach at high tide and also the skeer itself on low and following it back. Any general advice on the best rigs to use and what i can expect to catch this time of year, anyone been recently ? I have been a browser of the forum for quite some time and found some excellent stuff to help me on my way so far. I'm not a pro by any means of the word, so any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks !

    Phil

Use rigs that have a form of rotten bottom on them coz the ground is heavy, as specially in front of the island. Mainly winter shots but you do get reddins in the summer casting into the cresent as the tide ebbs back.
      Hope this helps mate.

            Thanks for the welcome codseeker!

Apollo, ta for the info mate ! Been down there about 3 times and not had much luck, i'll try the cresent next time i go and see what the crack is !

Seems by look, as if it could be a very dangerous spot in the winter ?
I wanted to get a feel for the place before the autumn comes, as i like how close it is to my house and seems pretty quiet whenever i go !

Any other stuff anyone can throw my way ?

            Thanks again

funny how my pic get past around forums mind MMMmmmmmmmm.
              na feel free lol
if u r gonna try the cresent skeer next time m8 try it first as the tide is droping back as soon as u can get below the cliff & chuck a fresh crab bait in2 the little cresent (full of kelp) i normaly get my 1'st reddie from this chuck.
i've had some great reddies every summer from the hartley marks.
off the island try the chuck up the left side of the skeer that runs off the front its all thick kelp but it has a thin channel that the fish use like a track.
              good luck m8.

BD500, Crab Hill is by Brown’s Bay, two or three miles south of Hartley.

Hartley can be a good mark if it’s not too rough to fish safely, you need a big tide to get onto the island and watch your back as it gets cut off before covering.
