  • lure fishing line ..Braid or mono

    good morning gentleman ...and ladies too ... just in case...

    was just wondering when i got my new reel yesterday for spinning as it came with spare spool i was going to load it up with braid ....but was just wondering for lure fishing ...with plugs/spinners /wedges is braid necessary to work it or is mono ok ? any help would be much appreciated...cheers

    braid all the way, you can feel everything the lure is doing.

    tis also miles better for pulling thru kelpy snags. heartbreaking when you loose a £20+ plug that could have been saved with braid.

        Braid is a lot better you can feel alot more through it and also with the diameter being a lot smaller it should add a bit distance on your casting.
        If you are fishing rough ground you might be best adding about 3ft of fluorocarbon leader as braid is easily worn against rocks.

          got to agree with the above and with braid being so direct it allows you impart more action into your lure/plug

            cheers guys .. much apreciated i do use braid on my second rod when i fish ...i also like to use braid when i am feathering i feel the fish a lot better .just not been muchof a lure angler ....having got myslef a lure rod and light reel to match i am going to try the art of lure angling ...never done it before except with them simple spinners/wedges so i think i will buy another spool of braid and give it a go . cheers guys./
