an old bloke in my local has been banging on about it for years "when I was a kid " ignored him thinking the beer has stewed his brain, might give it a go,( atleast if you catch nowt, you can fry it up when you get home,) he swears smoked bacon is the best, I can see it now, rod check, reel check, hooks, weights, spare line, check, bacon, egg, blackpudding check, frying pan check I carry enough stuff around , still I wont go hungry,

Believe it or not I used to catch grey mullet on small pieces of Bacon Rind from Cambois warm water cooling pipe years ago. Used to fish for them between the pipes where there was no current....................Ahh happy days !

Once Blyth power station closed, the warm water stopped flowing, and the fish dispersed from the area around the outlet. Not only is the power station not there any more, neither is the 'pipe'. Even if it was, there wouldn't be much point fishing it as there wouldn't be any flow from it.

I am going to give this a go when I next go fishing, worth a shot I reckon.

I wonder if the cheapo packs of bacon bits in Tesco would be fine, a pack of that stuff is very cheap, could get a tad expensive with decent bacon though hehe

i can remember it been netted round that area and it produced 500 bass to 8lb but as you say they probaly of gone now with warm water from power station no more.shame in a way.

i used to think newbiggen cliffs used to fish well as there was plenty of food for the fish there, there were always loads of ducks in the water and many a time you would see them with crabs in there mouths.
i used to think with the warm water in the area the crabs used to like it ,so more food for the cod.
