We use Namix leads for Distance. They hold well in all the tide runs we fish.

I keep plain sinkers and only wire them up to suit the conditions.

TBH I wouldn't even get a DCA out the box unless I was going to chuk it away in the kelp.

Have to agree with you John/r.

i have the namix bullet moulds in various sizes and they are not very good at gripping in heavy seas or strong tides or on hard ground like colliery beaches.

The way to make them grip better is to make them with extra long tails which act as a back rest and stops the lead from tumbling and allows the grips to anchor into the sea bed (trust me its been tried and tested).

The short tails look better and are ok in still seas or as a plain lead, but a short tailed gripper namix bullet is no match for the likes of a standard DCA gripper in rough seas on our coast.

However Jason from naxim has been testing this and has made the new bullet hybrid its still a bullet shaped but a longer lead tail like a tournament lead, so you can still use short tail wires and get a good grip in rough seas, strong tides, hard beaches, also it has the same trajectory and the bullet as most of the weight is at the front.

5 3/4 ounces is my favour sits perfect between the 5 / 6 ounces so saves me taking a mixture of weights and for the TTLD the 4 1/4 ounces is ideal it flys out.

My moulds should be will me next week, if anyones interested i will post what i think on here, but for the real test might have to wait till the winter for the rough seas.

            Tight lines.
            Davey.

heavier leads is another way to get better grip,i lot of what i say is realy about yrs ago when fishing the colliery beaches were a lot of times distance was important but things have changed now with the pit closures.
imo distance not quite as important but still nice to have it under your belt.
very few places round my area off the beaches do i encounter any tide run.
places were you realy need to hold the bottom hard is the likes of the holderness coast if you visit there.

i think if you like what you use thats all that matters .things work for jamcod proof is in the pics.
