Are you taking snotty crab and trying to bring them on? I find this rarely works and ya just end up with loads a dead crab!
I remove the moving section of the nipper, if this has plenty meat in then the crab goes in me bucket
I also put the crab I want to pop A.S.A.P into a bubble bath, it's unbelievable just how quick they'll pop with plenty air on them!!!

I've read this post and it makes no sense.

Snap the end segment of leg off and if there is another leg underneath then you can bring it on and peel it..

If it's a bullet tank it.

        Simple.

Like Adam says If it's a snot then put it back..

Well i bring snots on just takes longer, very few fall out but rather have them closer to peel as less looking after.

the only snot ive heard of is the ones up my nose.

the thread makes perfect sense to me. can you bring on any shore crabpulling the end of a nipper or leg of obviously shows a crab will peel.

thought maybe the other ones just take longer.

            thanks ha ha ha

You mean you've took a load of Doggas from up the coast hoping you can bring them on and peel them?!

caught a few red cod up the Howick area, on the way back I hoyed in a few crabs which were brimming the pools I noticed.

some good worm beds round sugar sands too.

well, crap, worth a gan anyway. load a crap

                  gotta laugh

Answer to the question is NO you can't pick up any shore crab and bring it on to peel.

It has to be in the peeling process.

486 crabs in the freezer a mix of cracked backs, soft under back segment and snottys...very low death rate, less than 1 every 70 i would say so whatever i am doing ti is working for me

the only way to settle this one is to take them to the swimming baths with the bairne tommoro and see what happens

Break the end segment of the leg shell off, if it has a new floppy leg underneath then you can bring it on to peel. If the new floppy leg segment is more like snot then I personally put them back but some people say they can bring them on. If there is no new leg segment then the crab has already peeled and is nowhere near ready to peel again.
