  • Tyne Anglers Getting The Blame For Rowdy Behaviour

Just saw this piece in my newsfeed:
Sea Angling: Getting to bottom of noise problem - Sunday Sun

Some of these householders have even tried putting up ‘no fishing’ notices!
I dont think that is leagal.

      Unfortunate to read that...

One of these days fishing WILL be banned from some parts of the tyne, and the majority of it will be down to kids, chavs and drunks, not the regular angler. Though as the report said, there is the odd 'idiodic or stupid' angler out there that decides to get drunk while fishing. What will the local people think of anglers if this continues? The outcome looks bleak...

At least us canny anglers outweigh the idiots that are about.

I agree with everything thats been said, the ammount of times householders give you dirty looks while where fishing, sitting having a cuppa watching your rod and you can feel there eyes burning into you, christ im 52 yrs old sitting quietly enjoying my fishing, why should we all be tarred with the same brush as Boatangler33 said,we can voice our opinions but we will more than likely get stopped from enjoying our sport from more and more area's.

it is illegal, especially when they put on by Authority of Port of Tyne, they have been told about these notices and sent photos of them, they should of gone long ago. I hope?

are these householders the ones who key anglers cars and do other damage because they dont want anyone there , i feel sorry for them if there is loads of noise but they should find out who is causing the noise and should not be damaging anglers cars .

Surely that is a police job, not the people who live there, lets face it they are not paid to do police work or to put there life on the line by confronting 30 drunken rowdy idiots of whom may be carrying weapons.

Tried to facebook the article but it came up as blocked content for being spammy, tch! not that I use facebook much, but still....

The actions of the resident are understandable, but still bang out of order, instead of driving a wedge in with the regular anglers they should be working with them - they want a nice place to live and the anglers want somewhere safe and enjoyable to fish.

Pretty obvious that both parties can be of benefit to each other just by mutually keeping an eye on things and passing on any info should something happen. Guess the residents haven't twigged that when the anglers are sat/stood there then it's a visual crime detterent - no scumbag wants witnesses around.

There is no excuse for anyone damaging cars and nothing to stop you parking in the streets but I am sure most of us would get a bit cheesed off if an endless stream of strangers started parking outside your house? oftem making noise getting in and out of cars late at night?
I was going to fish there for the first time about a month ago from near the Groin end as i was driving past the streets of posh houses i thought where do i park then the thought of parking next to someones posh house put me off so i headed to S/S pier for a sesh.
After reading these posts I am glad I did not fish there and now I dont think I ever will now.

Kens I think that's the walkway you're talking about but think this article is about st peters basin. I noticed a sign when I took a group of young'uns fishing there and had one of the residents giving me a bit stick (only from his window though!). I told the teachers and kids I was with to ignore him and the sign has been put up illegally. I do think it's illegal as it's just like putting advertising flyers up and unless it's on property you own it's littering.

They need to get a life I think
