  • Rough ground rigs

Hi lads am heading to to seahouses in a few weeks and want to fish the rocks. So am asking what are the best rigs to use. I was going to make pulley rigs with rotten bottoms on with 4/0 hooks but I don't no theses would be ok so any help would be great

if you are fishing in heavy kelp and rocks just make a 1 hook rig pulley as you have less chance of getting hung up with 1 hook than using 2 also use a lighter hook snood than normal

I see the reasoning behind using a lighter hook snood but got to disagree, you should be using a stronger hook snood than usual, i.e when fishing the river I use 30lb amnesia for a hook snood, but would i go lighter on the rocks, definitely not, I would be wanting to use at least 35lb or 40lb if i want a decent chance of landing anything i hook ( however rare this may be ) if i was you i would use at least 35/40lb hook snood if you fishing rough ground marks so if you hook anything decent you can bully it out and have confidence its not going to snap.
what i usually use for the rocks is a 3 way swivel with 60lb line going from the bottom of the swivel to an upside down genie rig clip with 18lb red ice ( the only thing it is good for) to the weight. and on the other swivel just have your snood coming off, i personally use single hooks rather than pennel and i prefer to use skauma 540 mantas in a size 4/0.

Not a fancy rig, but the less stuff you use making a rig the less stuff you lose if you snag up.

        Hope this helps
