Hi lads, sure this is on here often but here goes anyway. I have dropped down to 15 pound line as I want to get a further cast. previously I have used 30 straight through. I bought 15 pound tournament to load onto my reel, this line feels really fragile, I can snapp it quite easily and it snapps even easier when a shockleader is tied to it. Do you lads think 15 is to week (maybe go to 20 pound) I can't help think the slightest snagg the mainline will snapp let alone the shocklead knot or ant links I may have. What do you all think?

15lb is all I use fishing the Tyne mate (likes of the fish-quay north side or Groyne south side), thinner line helps cope better with strong tides. Also use it on the likes of Lynemouth, Blyth Beach; anywhere where the ground is fairly clean & it's absolutely fine - Suffix or Ghostline for me. It's a lot stronger than you might think!

you wetting your knots before tightening? thats a cause of fragile line (especially shock leader)Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

when you are tying your first knot in the shockleader and nip it up tight are you pulling your main line through about 6inches before you tie the final knot, as the first knot tied weakens the main line and can easy snap when pulled tight.www.home-improver.com
