  • South Shields Pier

    Hi,

I am going to be fishing South Shields Pier next Tuesday. Is it best to fish it at low tide or high tide. Have seen on the site some nice fish are getting caught and would be grateful for any advice.

Start at the light house on low water and as the tide floods work ya way back to the gate casting both sides of the pier but it can and will be snaggy in place's.
Feel free to take a look at my blog.

      i

if conditions stay the same till tuesday , fishing bout an hour after bottom the area anywhere before 1st gate can produce some canny plaice and flounder on the flood tide up to high water and an hour so back , pretty clean ground and lose very little gear, if fishing 2 hours after high water then the end is usually the shot but takes a liittle practice if hav;nt fished it before but is normally the best mark on pier. the 44, 45 marks aare decents shot as well and can be fished all the flood and the ebb. i would leave all others marks alone till your used to them as most of them are very tackle hungry. hope this helps, to tell you about all the others in detail would take too long.

but when fishhing on pier dont be afraid to ask other anglers for info bout fishiung pier

As said the end, first gate, 44, 45 are all good shots, also 40 to 44. Personally I'd steer clear of the river side on the 40 marks as it's very snaggy.

does the size of tide make much diff to fishing the first gate for plaice and the same quest regarding mark 44 seaward side is small or large bettr.

always meaning to try for them its just the parking and if not that the hike to mark 44.
anyone got one of them foldy bikes for sale.

is this right the end of groyne can produce some good plaice casting south east.

            thanks john
