I would be gutted if i went down on the day which i orded me bait and the bait was not in and i was geared up for a good fishing sesh and nee shops had bait in its all about planning a head but like i say if they said they had the bait in and it wasnt there when i got there i would be p***ed off.
Thats easy to say mate when you live down the road from the tackle shop.

It's a 30 mile round trip for me, thats a gallon of diesel near enough so £6 just to pick up some worm. Another £6 in diesel to get to the beach / pier the next day. Add in £10 for the bait itself and you are talking a lot of money - over £20 for a trip out. I got laid off recently so every penny counts, yes I've been lucky enough to get another job starting soon but I'm on £10k less than I was earning before and I cant justify p155ing away £6 just to drive to Horden / Ryhope and pick up some worm only to do the same drive again the next day.

What explanation did they give mate?
He said he thought they had bait in when I ordered but hadnt, but i'd spoke to a lad who'd got his bait from there a few hours before me?

OK, worm baits fish better at times but frozen crab is a good all round bait. Take the crab in a flask and also call into the tackle shop for worm, if they've got it then great, a variation of bait to chuck out. If they aint then just go ahead with crab only.
I can see where your coming from but when you order bait you think you certainly have it. and I do take frozen bait with me in a flask if i'm popping into a shop on the off chance they have some spare bait but not when i've ordered.

If they initially said they had plenty in but told you you're best off ordering to make sure of getting it, and then when you turn up they say they never had it in the first place it sounds like a funny way to run a business to me. Doesn't seem malicious, just a case of they don't know what's going on in the shop.

So you would do a 50 mile round trip if you knew your mark knew the tides and conditions just to look at where you knew you were going to fish even though you were going to order bait. Lol bollocks mate

Its called planning a head mate i drive miles to dig me bait as well sometimes more than 50 mile.

but like i said and i agree with you they where bang out of orded and if you could not of getting any bait it would of been a 50 mile round trip wasted for you.

is there no shops closer to where ya live like mate.

We used to have a few shops within about an 16 mile round trip but they only sold bits of frozen bait as they are geared up for course and game

No neither would I thats why I ordered my live bait from the one of the closest shops to me! I travel to dig also but sometimes i just cant get away as I have to much work on.
Av fished since I was 8 and am now 41 so I do have a slight idea how it works, hence ordering bait from one of the closest shop that sells what I want! I buy all my fishn gear from the shops I buy bait from as I believe in giving them business instead of internet shops but it boils my blood when this is how they repay you

i have never ordered bait to collect from them before ... however all i can say my last experience with them ( fishing republic)was spot on ...i have however ordered stuff from other tackle shops who have let me down ...all i can say is it can really suck to be let down when u want ur bait ...

So there is a fishing republic near you or is it the one in henden because thats miles away from you is there nee shops in the boro that would be closer to you than hendon.

but still it was shocking what they done my point is there has to be a shop closer to home that sell live bait.
