head to burgh by sands go over all the cattle grids and you will come to some trees on the right with a picnic area park there .walk to the left along the tree line and fish there macky or blue and rag or maddies the best bait at the min but crab will fish better soon loads of fish at all ranges short long two hook flapppers being best dont have hooks to small as there is some good flatties good luck

giving it a try tomorrow, fishing the afternoon tide then grab a bite to eat, a few hours kip in the car then fish the flood on the night before heading back. supposed to be fishing very well at present so very hopeful of lots of action. got plenty fresh crab and macky so hopefully got what they want.

Well I arrived about 9 o'clock and started next to the trees to the left of the picnic area, not quite low water, (the BBC tide times are wrong by 1 hour, it says they are stated in bst they aren't they are in gmt, so I mis plonked by an hour) first cast a flounder about 1lb, good start I thought then nothing at all for 2 hours then another about the same size. Another hour or so passed with nothing else so decided on a move. Drove to just outside port Carlisle and pulled into a lay-by close to the water, the tide was still well out so started to fish on the mud then about 2 o'clock the bore came, quite a big one, got some good piccys of it I'll post them when I get home. The tide really started to race in and soon pushed me up onto the grass, then the action started with a steady flow of flounders on the flood and about an hour and a half into the ebb, plenty double shots but nothing huge best about 1lb 8oz. I lost count of how many I had but it was well over 20. All fish were caught on fresh crab, tried macky a few times but no success. Another bloke down fishing was using rag and only had one fish so they have definitely switched their preference to crab now. Weather was hot and sunny after a chilly murky start, a good enjoyable session, no monsters but loads of action in a manic two and a half hour spell. Too tired to drive back tonight so going to get a few hours kip in the car then fish top of the water through the night and drive back early in the morning.
