i was talking about tactics davy not locations.
as i said earler right bait, right place, right time.
if you look back at the comp results from all those years ago (christ i feel old) you\'ll find it was coalies from the wash end of the south pier i did well with not so much the flounders out the river. and if you remember i used to catch the coalies on much lighter tackle than everyone else used (a light 8\' spinning rod with two size 4 aberdeens and a single mussel on both hooks.)
      ah memories !!!!

Coalies on the Wash end...those were the days, as were coalies at the concrete posts on Roker!! Can\'t remember watching you with the spinning rod cos if you remember, you had to be 18 to fish the South, but you were a senior in Sunderland SAA at 16, so for 2 years, I couldn\'t fish where most of the winning weights were caught - What a fair committee we had then, probably my major reason in leaving.

Is it right that Sunderland SAA have been had to leave their HQ cos the council have increased the rates or something?

unfortunatly true davy, i haven\'t been a member for many years but from what i gather they put the ground rent up from £250 per annum to £1600. not certain of the exact figures but they are not to far away from the mark.
the club have handed the hq back to the council. i had always been led to believe sunderland saa actually owned the building, apparently not so.

Jim, it used to be the same on the Wash end on the South pier didn\'t it. They just seemed to disappear one year never to return .
