I\'ve got some Liam Dale video\'s (Simple Surf Casting 1&2) where Phil Hyde demonstrates a similar cast. The sinker starts in the same position, but its on the ground, and he calls it the Hi-Inertia. Its easy to progress to a simple pendulum cast once the Hi-Inertia cast is mastered. Great if you\'re on the beach or field, but a bit restrictive on the pier.

Be careful with this type of cast as its a guaranteed rod snapper. I used to cast this way but got fed up snapping rods especially century long eazees and greys jupiters. I bust every one I had ! I do do a similar style of cast now but bring the sinker round to the side of the rod and drop my right arm which produces a bigger more powerful casting arc. It also stops 2 hook flappers from catching the rod.

Iv\'e been doing a similar type of cast for years now as I know one or two others do on here. If you sort it out it is a great way of casting. Thanks for the warning of snapping rods CHUKKA it nearly happened the other night but was caused by my weight hitting the rail on the pier. Just caught it in time.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

It was so windy tonight Jim, that I was having to do a sort of aeralised OTG with the sinker hanging over the rail into the harbour so it wouldn\'t snag up. Pulled a muscle in my left forearm with having to push/pull the rod(s) into the wind to cast them out. My fault for having 2 hernia poles!
