Shame on you Alan ! I remember you bringing your daughter fishing to just about every BOTAC match she was a good little angler. Your hair was broon then but you could have easily hidden a badger in it.

I recon we should be happy at our age to have hair of any colour

the little rascal used to outfish me every time, that's why I stopped taking her (only joking) won the Whitley Bay junior champion at nine, second when ten. Hair white as snow now, but still trying to hide badgers in it.

Heard of a few pollack and flatties being caught. I reckon the Yellow Isle could be worth a bash. Our next stint over will be mid May.

Just about 5 mins walk north of Portpatrick. Just park up at the north end of Portpatrick Harbour (its free) - you can actually park nearer but its hard to describe how to get there !!

Walk up the stairs, follow the coastal path,go past the radio masts and you will see the mark. Its not actually an "Isle" just yellow lichen covered rocks. You will see a well defined path down to the mark. If no fish head walk a bit further north up the coastal path, plenty of fishy marks to try.

Mind you, this is basically from a lure fisherman. I fish over the MOG most of the summer and last year only took my beachcaster on one occasion. Float fishing for wrasse and lure fishing for bass and pollack is my game.

Hope you do well, looking forward to your report.

                  John

ps,could you let me know the state of the mark as regards anglers litter !!!! I filled a black bin liner last time I was there :-(

them steps up the cliffs from the car park are a killer we fished down from the castle into the cove and was poor for pollock but quite a few wrasse were caught, on the morning of that day we asked the guy in ardwell marine for a nice easy mark to get to as we were all bad off the beer and he told us there. we were expecting a nice easy days fishing not the stairway to heaven and a absail down the cliff

There were a couple of extremely optimistic lads tossing tinsel off Shields today.

Only about three months too early.

What can you catch this time of year down roker then? I was there last week, blanked when I tried about half way up the pier and blanked at the round end as well.
