  • UK Hooks....I.O.W

Got a new Daiwa 7ht mag and mated it up on my Zziplex primo full tournament

Big problem as the foot on the 7ht mag is a lot thicker that the penn 515/525 and the ABU 65 reels.
I always just use coasters to hold my reels to my rod and plus I use a rubber thumby under the reel seat to grip the spool to stop any spool slip on the cast.
The normal coasters That fit the Zzippy rods are 30mm and are fine with the above reels apart from the new Daiwa.
So looking on the UK Hooks wedsite they now make a NEW 31mm coaster,I ordered a pair and they fit perfect.
This post is just to help anyone that buys the new Daiwa reels and use coasters on there Zzippys.

i find reel fittings a pain in the backside prob is feet on diff reels vary a lot there for you think you have everything sussed and a new reel comes out and you are back to square one.

lost a canny fish off horden a few yrs back with reel moving on rod butt.now for fishing i tend to use fuji snap lock fittings of old coupled up wth coasters the breakaway ones not ideal as it holds reel high on rod but this is best compromise i can come up with.

for casting i just use breakaway coasters the black plastic type which open up to large dia butts if required.
did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

I have just tried these coasters on my Zzippy SST,this rod has a slightly thinner butt and the new 31mm UK Hook coasters fit this rod as well with the 7HTmag.

I then fitted the ABU 65 onto the SST this reel has a very thin foot but by fitting the rubber thumby under the foot this also fits fine.

The problem going up to 33mm I think they would be to big for Zzippy rods as these coasters only have a 4mm open to close lock down.
          Hope this helps...H

            UK Hook coasters

To my knowledge this is the first time a company has thought about this problem and have come up with a 31mm coaster and this has solved the problem in my opinion.

And these coasters are very well made and a quality product, you can have most colors but I went for gold as I like a bit of BLING
