Snaggy ground, use junk as mentioned, most garages that do services will normally give you any amount of old spark plugs just to get rid of them.
Making your own, just take care to ensure good ventilation, use sensible safety gear and don't rush yourself. Takes a little practice to get used to filling the mold and get the lead to the right temperature so don't feel down when you end up with some duffers that end up back in the pot
Pick up a spinning rod, fixed spool and a mix of spinners and lures for the summer months when the mackeral are about, easy target and good fun. The rod and reel will also be canny for chucking smaller leads and floats with lighter gear for flatties, coalies, whiting etc I've fished big rockpools in the summer with my lightest gear for blennies, butterfish, granny fish and owt else in them just for a bit of fun on a sunny day
