  • How much bait

Just wondering how much bait you take for a full days fishing.

It is a false economy to skimp on bait.

For a five hour cod session and one rod I'll usually have three score of lug (3 casts per hour, 1 hook rig with at least three worms per cast), for scratching with two rods I'll have a score of lug, 1/4 lb of rag plus one or two Mackerel, again thats for a five hour session using two hook rigs, size 1 hooks and much smaller baits.

Money being tight I rarely fish with two rods these days in winter, spring / summer with smaller hooks / smaller baits I use a lot more Mackerel than I used to to stretch the baits out.

1 and a half crab an hour (providing there good size ones). So 8 hour sesh = 12 crab which = £12, or nowt if you get yer own.

If you skimp on bait you'll be lucky to catch owt but undersize bits of sh1t!

4 hours summer fishing 30 big Peelers.

Winter off the beaches I could easily use over 100 good Blow lug in 4 hours.

One rod. 2 hooks anywhere I can get away with.

I think that equates to approximately 4 chucks an hour with 2 giant peeler on for each chuck. You must have some busy seshes mate, got to be eyemouth or st abbs for the venue.

2 on a hook. 6 an hour single hooking. 24 Crab. Plenty of bites/fish you'll use more.
