  • South Shields Pier or the Walkway?

One of my mates is up in South Shields visiting family and I am going to go for a chuck with him on Thursday. I have never fished the walkway or South Shields pier but fancy giving one of them a shot on thursday afternoon. Has anyone got any info on either or which will give us the best chance of catching something, in all of the catch reports on here you normally always see someone catching something on the walkway which is making me lean towards it and that it is nice, easy comfortable fishing by the looks of it!
Does the part towards the river mouth and groyne fish the best and how far do you need to chuck?
Any info on either would be great, thanks,

    Graham.

Both canny shots, plenty small fish in the river at the moment so ya should be kept busy. To aviod the snags ya want to be into the middle of the river bigger chuck the better!

Been fishing well at Marsden beach lately, plaice, codling, flounders and coley, fish in front of the pub, use rag tipped with mackerel.

Thanks for the advice but I am going to take some of it and head for the pub! The forecast looks horrific! The marks can wait! Thanks again,

              Graham.

if ya ever do fish the walkway ,try n cast to the middle like one of the lads says ,and when ya come to reel in strike like ya had a fish on and wind in like the clappers.even so ya bound to get snagged at one time or another .
baits rag n maccy, should get lots of intrest and keep ya busy.

Agree, the walkway is a nightmare with a strong westerly
