last couple of winters have been really good for me, especially end of jan to mid April. Have fished mostly at night though.
Not really fished for the summer cod yet, hopefully this year.
spring run up here is now limited to the river tyne and to a lessor the wear but that realy has always been the case.
myself i think if more people carried on fishing thro. using fresh crab and possibly frozen during april may and june i think you would here of more cod catches.
after a heavy sea there will always be fish about up here especialy in the heavier ground but i think crab is essential especialy shore crab . imho

bottom of the cliffs a good shot apparently all thro the summer after a bit movement has been on.
got more codling last summer from june till september than i have had this winter , bait used nothing , just macky feathers, cast out with the feathers let them hit the bottom and just pirk them off the bottom without reeling in, try it you might get a suprise, best sesh using this method of fishing 63 coalies up to 2lbs 7 mackerel and 5 codling up to 2lbs all caught on light gear, i even managed to get 1 coalie a mackerel a codling and a weaver all on the same string of feathers.
