  • Rods casting 4-8oz wieghts....

anybody ever used a 8oz, I've only ever see, and myself used upto 7oz on days when the wind is horrid and in your face...

i believe most the rods rated tis would collapse and just flop under that much wieght during a cast/unable to have the backbone to propel it.

Just a thought crossing my mind

I've used up to 10oz on my Eliminator but only in the foulest of conditions, normally draw the line at 7oz - besides I've only seen grippers up to 7 in the shops.

Just for the hell of it Peter! Usually keep the big weights for my old Scarborough gear, but decided to give it a go when people around me were blowing up their reels with 6s & 7s trying to chuck into a 40mph odd headwind.
