Mike Curtis, an island fisherman, has seen his first Mackerel of the year about 200 yards off the Isle of Wight waters.Being a man who know his fish, Mark says this is about three months earlier that you would normally expect. Mackerel have in recent years been caught off Sandown Pier in early April, even so this is certainly an early fish. We've heard that Mackerel are caught in late Winter off Chesil beach.

I once went over to kill a mack that they just threw on the side cause after hitting it repeatedly they couldn't kill it..... I was disgusted but at the time thought I'll show them how to... doubt they took any pointers like

URGHH guess South Shields pier will be a no go this year then with that bloody paper shop along Ocean Rd now selling rods, reels, tackle etc. It will have to be 6am to 10am sessions if it's to be at the pier, hopefully they will be in bed sleeping off the hangovers of the cheap alcohol is it white lightening lol.

iT wont be long till my spinning gear is out, started on the 24th of April last year and was getting plenty goalie. The sea temp is already a degree warmer than last year at this time.
Happy to help, Keen to learn!
