  • Just back!

I've just got back from a fruitless session. Unfortunately, despite the conditions and the ground covered I failed to produce!
The tide was at 1.8m at approximately 1930hrs.
I fished three new marks. I started on The Screws, moved to The Warriors and then on to the Goatsies for a final shot before extracting to Cullercoats Harbour.
The wind was ESE at 16, gusting 25 knots. The conditions appeared to me to be great with some decent rolling surf flooding and settling in the gulleys.
I made the desicion to move after every few casts to another mark.
An hour over LW saw me moving off The Goatsies and trudging, wind and drizzle in face to the Harbour.
It was a bit naughty on the Northern Wall (due to the wind not the sea) and casting was even more difficult than on the other marks.
I decided to call it a night at approximately 2200hrs. I have bait remaining and so I am going to return at 0600hrs. The wind will have dropped to approximately 7 knots and may have shifted to a SW, which should see calmer conditions. After the solid SE tonight this may see the fish on the feed.
I am undecided on where to fish but at the moment I am going to repeat tonights session. If I have a sudden change of mind, I think a shot at St. Mary's Island may be worth a try. LW is at approximately 1.5m, so there will be a little more of a drop.
I hope to produce tomorrow as the boat trip on Friday is looking "dodgy" due to the increasing SE.
    Dissapointed but still smiling.
I noticed a fellow, fishing from the rock mark in the South of Cullercoats Harbour when I arrived at my first mark. If you are a member of the forum I would be interested in how you got on!
    All the best,
    Wayne.

      Cheers!

It felt like a bit of hard work too! That's the kit re-serviced. I'll have a bit of head down and then I aim to be on a mark at approximately 0600hrs! If the wind has calmed then I might fish the same area on the back of that SE.
I have had another look on Bing (as it was my first chuck on the Northern skeers) and I'm happy with where I am fishing. The fishing at the moment is just pretty ninja!
I'll have another bash tomorrow morning and potentially later in the week!
There is the odd Cod turning up throughout the North East, they're just making us work that little bit harder lol!
      All the best, Wayne.

I look forward to the report when you return. Weather has dropped in temp today so hopefully this will get the fish in closer.

All the best in the morning.

          Slight change of plan!

I'm going to fish it at night again! With the cod as scarce as they are I think fishing it in the dark hours will be more advantageous! I'm going three down and two over tonight though! I noticed that I could of got on to the marks a lot sooner and there would have been a fair bit more water in the gulleys.
I think fish can be caught pretty close here, it's just the catching part!
          I'll post on my return!
          All the best, Wayne.

wondered how you got on with the conditions being what they were. On Tynemouth Beach I thought I had got the tides wrong, as I knew it was on the flood but I had to keep moving my box higher up the beach. after 2 hours of the flood I actually was fishing from higher up the beach than when I started. Must have been dangerous on the rocks if the same was happening there. I saw the other angler move from the beach across the rocks to the south harbour, was going to follow him but chickened out.

              Hi Wayne,
Just wondering how you faired yesterday. Bloody awful weather up here. Fair play to you for venturing out.

              Hope it was a success.
