I've just got back from a fruitless session. Unfortunately, despite the conditions and the ground covered I failed to produce!
The tide was at 1.8m at approximately 1930hrs.
I fished three new marks. I started on The Screws, moved to The Warriors and then on to the Goatsies for a final shot before extracting to Cullercoats Harbour.
The wind was ESE at 16, gusting 25 knots. The conditions appeared to me to be great with some decent rolling surf flooding and settling in the gulleys.
I made the desicion to move after every few casts to another mark.
An hour over LW saw me moving off The Goatsies and trudging, wind and drizzle in face to the Harbour.
It was a bit naughty on the Northern Wall (due to the wind not the sea) and casting was even more difficult than on the other marks.
I decided to call it a night at approximately 2200hrs. I have bait remaining and so I am going to return at 0600hrs. The wind will have dropped to approximately 7 knots and may have shifted to a SW, which should see calmer conditions. After the solid SE tonight this may see the fish on the feed.
I am undecided on where to fish but at the moment I am going to repeat tonights session. If I have a sudden change of mind, I think a shot at St. Mary's Island may be worth a try. LW is at approximately 1.5m, so there will be a little more of a drop.
I hope to produce tomorrow as the boat trip on Friday is looking "dodgy" due to the increasing SE.
Dissapointed but still smiling.
I noticed a fellow, fishing from the rock mark in the South of Cullercoats Harbour when I arrived at my first mark. If you are a member of the forum I would be interested in how you got on!
All the best,
Wayne.
