  • crab lines and pots

    hi
Im new to this as i have not fished since i was a child fishing off Scarborough pier, and im heading to shields this weekend.

I have read or heard somewhere that you now need a permit to catch lobsters, crabs for commercial as well as for hobby.

    Is this true?

    many thanks

iv'e been led to believe you only need a license for open sea , you do not need one if only using it in harbour, if you ring the fisheries commmitee they will explain in more detail, on the bright side the license is free to put ten pots out,

This is what you require, big fines after April when the new Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority take over from the Sea Fisheries Committee. Go to limited shellfish permit hobby fishermen.
