I've read about Cart, and I have to say I'm not a big fan. Anything that involves throwing anything cling film wrapped into the water can't be good.
Cart is the frozen entrails of edible crab and it isn't cheap either £25 quid for something that would normally be thrown away.
Good marketing ploy though but guess I'll stick to peeler, can get 30 frozen frozen peeler for the same price.

Tried it last year, stuffed into squid bodys, never had much luck with it. Although I have read on its day it outfished other baits.

              Hi Johnnyd,
I actually came across cart when researching Lincolnshire Baits. Seems to be a twist of the same sort of thing. Lincolnshire baits didn't get rave reviews and as far as I can ascertain, nobody has caught anything on them.
It appears that cart could be the same type of thing, but with the advantage that it is actually 100% from crab. But so far, I have not heard of actual fishermen catching anything on it, just a bit of urban myth such as - a friend of my dads mates girlfriend said his cousins brother caught loads.

But £5 is not a huge amount of money in order to try it.

The £25 was for 60 baits worth and is equivalent to 25-30 peeler crab.
Peeler are killer bait, so I know where I would rather spend my money.
              And no Clingfilm.

But I like what Waldof suggested - putting it inside squid, great idea and much better for the environment.

People have been using cart for years. For those who put the time and effort into making their own quality cart, they will be rewarded with excellent bait, that will catch plenty of fish especially from the rocks.
Best fished in cocktails with crab etc.
I dont know about the mass produced stuff thats appearing in tackle shops, as I havnt tried it, but i'd be wary of whats actually going into these baits, not much crab I expect!

Cart is not a "new" bait, it's basicly the unedible insides of female crabs, coral ect. Wrapped in clingfilm tho. I use it in finger bandage in 2" sections about 1/2" thick or stuffed inside squid a body. Good bait to have in the freezer for use on rock marks. I've caught fish on it, it's not an alternitive to peeler tho and defo no comparison to the lincolnshire crabby nugget sh*te! lol

used it but not had much luck myself with it,have seen cod caught on it though.........I think that some of the more mass produced stuff is watered down if you can get a hold of some off the boat lads or prepare it yourself it is a lot better quality and will not wash out too quickly........most of the lads using it put it in finger bandage or armoured mesh and cut into small sausages and frozen........best used frozen in my opinion
