      Thanks swordfish,
What was the title of the book from Tynemouth? I remember catching a butter fish and if it hadn't been for a book - I'd still be wondering what it was.

Hi g.ordon fishes are mentioned in the bible - I can't find anywhere to indicate where he caught them though or what bait he used.
Your luck will change g'ordon with each tide. Hopefully for the better.
My river fishing was worse than my lottery last year. I won £58 on the lottery ..

                          Some of my favourite books.

                          Hello,
These are a few of my favourites,

"Successful Shore Fishing" by Anthony Pearson (1967). This is a great read.

"Sea Angling with the Baited Spoon" by John P Garrard (1960) published by Herbert Jenkins.

"Hooked On Bass" by Mike Ladle and Alan Vaughn (1988)

"Operation sea Angler" by Mike Ladle

"The Sea Anglers Guide to Britain and Ireland" by John Darling

                          "Shore Fishing" by John Darling

                          Regards Ian

                            Thank you Ian,
Mike Ladle is a household name ..
Here is his Sea Water Diary
                            Fly Fishing from Rocks.
I've never succeeded yet [unless you include mackerel] but it can be done.

                            Brilliant series of Angling stories.
                            Thank you.

Anthony Pearson is sought after- 1960's but the methods still apply £36 for his book - bass mostly
I adore Bass fishing ... My 6500ct mag didn't know what hit it, coupled with an apolloI 12ft ... light yet quick retrieve and always I knew what the fish was doing.
High speed reels weren't just for casting.

Another part of my Bible was the sea fishing magazine such as Total Sea Fishing and Sea Angler. It kept me informed of the latest techniques, gear and Total fishing always had a brilliant venue report.
And there was always the chance of a freebie on the cover.
