  • Hi All - Just introducing myself

Hi everyone, great forum. I would just like to introduce myself after recently joining the forum. I have fished for 32 years, had a little gap when I moved up to the Scottish Borders. I fished South Wales before that, from Severn Bridge to milford haven, so if any advice needed let me know.
I have done a little recce up here from sea Houses to St Abbs to get to know the coast a little but having never fished up here will just have to get a few worms wet.
Any help or advice will always be welcomed and have found the maps of the marks around this area very useful thanks to Phill itofish for those and one I found from Markmc St Abbs to Eyemouth.
Keep up the great work and tight lines all.

    Sean

Welcome shaun. Mark 15 on their is my personal favourite, it can produce cracking wrasse and the other usual suspects. You only need to lob out a few yards for the best results going from my experience there. Again, in my experience best bait in the summer is either rag or crab. You can get a parking ticket from the caravan site reception for £3.00 and park right at the end of the site, after that it's just a 50 yard walk down to the mark. It doesn't really matter if it's low or high water there, the fishing is just mental any time.

Thank very much g.ordon that's really helpful, I went up to Eyemouth and St Abbs last weekend. Beautiful coastline and great harbours, I didn't go to the area where mark 15 is but will be going again at the weekend to study the area a bit more and will now head there.
        Thank you again.

No probs mate. Since your thinking of maybe going there here's a bit more detail. When you get your ticket and park in the grass carpark at the end of the site (there's a gate you have to go through), just walk north along the cliff footpath for around 50 yards or so, keep lookin down and you'll see a sort of flat rock slab, you can't really miss it. Then you just need to clamber down over a few rocks to access it, it's pretty easy to get down. Mind you I would only fish it with a calm sea on for safety reasons but then again I've heard that's the time it fishes best and I agree.

                      Welcome to NESA Sean

Have a look here THE CODLING CROUCH: by David Storey - North East Sea Angling : NESA

David Storey is a member on here - Stores. The book will provide you with loads of advice on fishing around Eyemouth, Coldingham and St Abbs. You might find it useful to do a search of the forum as well as there has been many many threads about fishing these areas. The pic below is Deep Gut one of the marks in the book.

                        Hi Pottsy thanks,
Coincidently I have been looking at the Codling Crouch Thread earlier today and noticed David had commented. It has great reviews from everyone here and I intend to get one if I see one in the shops. I looked at Amazon but it is currently out of stock, as all good books usually are.
The book appears to fit the bill as a good local fishing bible ... so will keep an eye out for it.

                        Thanks again.

Local tackle shops usually have copies as does the St Veda's Hotel at Coldingham. Might be just as easy to send Stores a pm on here and he will sort something out for you

Sorry I forgot to add - Thanks for the brilliant picture Pottsy - I have to say I really like this coastline - and so spoilt for choice with a water quality that is a real credit to this region.
Can't wait to start teaching the worms to swim again just to sit and admire the scenery.
