  • Newbiggin on Thursday....

    Hey,

I'm planning making my return to fishing on Thursday as the high tide seems decent timing for after I finish work.

Not fished in over ten years so not expecting much, but planned on Newbiggin bay down the steps from beach terrace as its a nice and easy spot and saw a lad last week pull a decent codling from there in the afternoon.

Any tips for bait, rigs etc for that spot?

    Cheers.

    Fantastic forum by the way!

The person just asked for advice, not for a secret mark or a secret bait or a secret tactic, just pure advice. The fact that it's a few days before an open shouldn't make any difference whatsoever. There are people who will be willing to offer good advice on this forum, not all anglers are defensive about marks.
              Let's gan fishing

I don't fish Newbiggin and certainly do not fish competition's either, therefore if I had some advice to share I would.

You can fish basically anywhere along the beach. most productive spots are between the right steps at beach terrace along to the steps down from where Windsor school used to be. any further to the right and you will be chucking onto the west end rocks
not sure if there wuill be enough movement on as it does fish better with a decent biit sea running.
northerly or south eastery will do the trick.
the beach is steep so no need for fancy rigs or distance, bait wise you cant go worng with fresh lug, mussel and crab. they arent usually that fussy.

just for the record I will be fishing the comp but as the lad is asking about high water cant see why it will make any difference for the open

Thanks for the advice Richie....as Kelpykid said I'm just wanting general advice and to get back into it. I'll be jobless at the end of the month so want to start fishing again instead of being in the house all day!

I'll make sure I leave a few in for Phil

And if anyone needs a gardener let me know!

Little bit pathetic more like it. The golden rule on here is don't ask for advise unless you want ridiculed.

I would happily give advice but it is not a mark I have ever fished.
