  • Slosh 30

Hello, wounded if someone could advise on my slosh 30 handle is wobelling more than usual, do the drag washers need replacing or is this something else? Thanks in advance for replies.

Is it just the handle loose on the shaft - in which case the nut just needs tightening - or is the whole shaft wobbling too? Replacing the drag washers won't have any effect in either case.

As Gary said also maybe bearing on very bottom of shaft goosed or nipple on shaft worn or snapped

It feels just the handle and star that are moving.

That was pretty much my next diagnosis! Sloshes have rather poorly designed shafts with a pronounced weak-spot where they are held by the retaining plate. On the originals, if the bearing below the shaft goes they have a tendency to snap. On the newer SHA models Daiwa saw fit to change that bearing to a bronze bush, and when that gets a bit worn the shaft bends, again at the same weak spot.

Very hard to give an accurate long-range diagnosis, but I'd suspect the bearing below the shaft, particularly as you say the star-drag feels wobbly too.

Cheers lads sorted, just the nut needing tightened slightly... The star was moving because I had it slackened off (just don't like going in the gear end)

Glad it turned out to be the simplest fix...Occam's Razor does it again!
