  • Whats Went Wrong ? ? ? ? ?

How long has the Fishing round these parts been poor. Ive heard some stories of when times were much better and you'd be pulling 6pounders in all the time
Since I've been Fishing from last Winter, all I've seemed to hear is People moaning about lack of Fish, will things ever pick up again or is that it?
Ive spoke to People who say the Cod are getting fed of Sprats 4 mile out and theres no need for them to come into Shore to feed. Ive heard that we need a Storm, and ive heard people begging for a Good Wind, From North East South and West!!! LOL... Is anybody right or have I just picked the wrong time to start Sea Angling?
    SumBody must know sumthing!!!
Am gana try get me m8s to sort a few Boat trips from SeaHouses or sumwhere, cos at the minute that seems the only way to land a Decent Fish
Things can surely only get better EH

Fishing has nothing to do with catching fish. I you just went and sat by the water people would say look at that lazy git sat doing nothing. Take a rod with you and they just say oh look theres a man fishing. The rod gives you permission to be totally idle.

I'll quote what many people will say,...

'Thats why its called fishing, Not catching'

There will be fish for me on sunday when a fish me match... A was clearing leaves in me garden the other day and a found a four leaf clover, so am taking that as a sign of good things to come!!!

These quieter months are a good time to get your basic drills right for the busier times ahead...if fishing from the beaches and there's no sea on drop the hook sizes right down and even if the sea comes away only go back to a 3/0 tops because you can still hook a biggy with a 3/0

If heading for the rocks now's the time of year to mebbes chuck out a big bait to try for a pig - but alternate baits and hook sizes if nothing is interested

there are fish about - unfortunately the glory days are no longer with us so it's a case of doing your homework and finding them

our club match last week saw all of us on the rocks because if Cod were to come from anywhere it would have been from those places...turns out 3 of them hit the money shot ...next night the same place drew a blank

Hard going at the minute for everyone - a lot of good anglers are fishing and blanking so it makes us mortals feel that little bit better

Like has been said the last few years has seen the best fishing Sept' to December...
                      Ooh a new vid!

Thats the sort of stuff im after learning matey, so cheers for that. As for Bait, ive only ever used Rag or Lug. Mates I Fish with use others, Crab and Razor etc, so ill just have to take more notice next time they are baiting up.
Ive always used 5,o Hooks, but will be changing slightly. After listening to your advice
IN the past ive just been interested in sliding some worms on and trying to cats out as far as I could with my 11ft Rod and Fixed Spool! Now ive got sum decent gear and am casting much better! Its time to look into the other bits to Fishing I suppose, and theres Flippin loads to learn. So thanks for the help, its all much appreciated...
                        Cheers Bud...

I'm no expert by any stretch having only been back into fishing properly for the last 3-4 years...but it's a learning curve every time you go out and even the old and bold have to learn to adapt their tricks.

I was stuck on the larger hooks sizes and worm baits when I first started out too and when you look at the smally hooks you think to yourself "nae way" but they are just as effective if not more so at times.

Crab/Razor and mussel were scary when I first tried lashing the muck on but you soon get the hang of it

Just keep heading out there and asking questions on the forums if stuck - plenty peeps will help but they like to see people helping themsleves as well if you know what I mean
