Sorry, should\'ve said that the above was for pulley rigs.

If I was using a standard pennel, then it\'d be 60lb Dynalink (Ron Thompson)......very similar to Greased Weasel shockleader... for the body and the same 25lb black Amnesia for the hook snood.

I always use black for the hook snoods.....habbit, I suppose......but I always know that there\'s something sharp & pointy at the end of the black line........handy if you get in a tangle

50lb clear Penn Tough Stuff for the body and 20-25lb clear amnesia for the hook length. As for reel line I use 15lb Daiwa tournament or 35lb Red Ice - prefer the more visable reel lines.

I always use clear line if i can for rig bodies and hooklengths. Ive heard Red amnesia is good for doggies. Jim Dobie one of the best match anglers in N/E uses red hooklengths im told.
A word of warning dont go below 30lb hooklengths for cod. You will be surprised how abrasive their teeth are . I personally use 40lb amnesia or trilene for small codling but if im after biguns or up arbroath or balcary use 50lb-80lb hooklengths. I speak from experience the last time i was at balcary i lost a lump when 80lb leader parted as i was about to gaff a fish well over 20lb. The air was blue!!!!

My prefrence for what its worth is a 50lb maxima green body and a 25lb black amnesia hook lenght, with which I have pulled a cod of 17lb out of the rough stuff without any probs at all, apart from the slight heart trauma when I first clapped eyes on it

Lol tala I can imagine mate.
I don\'t think it really matters what your preference in colour is, I think they will take anything. I have a mate that would only use clear but after blanking for a few weeks I persuaded him to use one of mine and he caught straight away. He couldn\'t say that clear was better any more after that lol.

                      Jim.

For what it\'s worth i use 60lb Greased weasel for main body and 25lb Maxima for me hook lengths, it seems to work i\'ve only lost fish on the maxima when fishing in the really rough ground, had two cod 22lb 11oz and 10lb 7oz in same session last year and me hook lengths held out.

                        Cheers JAW.

Read somewhere that colour is irrelavent where fishing is concerned as a fishes vision is the same as most other members of the animal kingdom black and white. It seems most of the different line and lure colours are designed to catch the angler and not the fish.

dunno about that, certain colours defintely make a difference when it comes to lures.

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
