Come on Tich don\'t be coming none of that mate. If you are expecting us to believe that they were making fishing rods when you were a lad you are on another planet. There are only two OLD people on this forum and you are BOTH of them lol. Try pulling the other one, it\'s Christmas and it\'s got bells on lmao.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
Bob , I remember one year it was a huge spring tide and the water dropped right down the edge of the jetty and I dug some huge lug in bucketfulls . never seen it that low since .
no you cant get on it anymore, all of the planks have been removed, and the railings.... any one remeber the goverment jetty ??? that was good mark for codling but bitch to cast from
Dave was the big tide you spoke about, the one when the north shieds ferry landing hit the sea bed and punctured the bouyancey tanks???
talking about the river Bob , I used to fish the fish quay and it was round about that time I first saw the pendulum done by a lad who\'s name escapes me but is well known up there . he hit exactly half way over the river (No mean feat ) in the deep water channel and hit fish every time . I learned to cast after that episode .
any way Dave hitting the middle of the river is not hard,i have done it hundreds of times.................one of these days i may even do it with the line still attached to the reel and not a snap off haa haa!!!!!!!
A 6ft solid glass boat rod and a Penn Delmar reel with a plastic spool that eventually smashed and then a solid greenheart boat rod and a wooden Scarborough reel that I got off my granda\'s boat.
First beachcaster was a 13ft Shakespeare Europa and a Mitchell 602AP reel, a big sloppy thing with a loose joint. I eventually cast the top off it at the Blocks and bought a Conoflex DC6 and a Daiwa SL175H - my first \"proper\" gear. Cost me £70 second hand out the Gazette and the lad chucked in his waterproofs and tackle box, I spend more than that on hooks and swivels now!
yeah , that was the lad Dave . He used an old Daiwa Millionaire i think and he set me off to go to casting school at Newark of all places and we did really well with the old pendulum .
