  • New Rod

Im after a new rod but undecided on which one to go for.My price range is from £250-£300,but i suppose the cheaper it is then i can go for a new reel as well.It will be mainly used for mixed to rough ground.I currently use a Conoflex Nemesis Plus paired with a slosh 20 or slosh 30.
I quite fancy a Apollo MK3 but at £300 its a bit pricey. My next thought was an SK4 14ft then a Ian Golds Extractor.
Any other advice on which one to go for would be much appreciated.
When you have a look around there are quite a few rods to go for!!
The only fish i want this year is a double figured cod!!!

    sonik

If your thinking about a Sonik why not have a look at the new NCT's, then you can write us a reveiw, iv'e seen one being used and I know looks aren't everything but they do look like a proper fishing rod.

i treated myself to a early christmas present, i have a platinum xs, liked it, but its now gone like a soggy flannal! So my recent purchase was of a sk4, 5-7oz and its a real nice rod, light, balanced and stiff for a good chuck and bringing in fish.

I have just bought a new WR300. absolutely love this rod. good casting distances are effortless. If there is one for sale on here I would seriously consider it.

Yep, wr 300 is a fantastic rod. Brilliant casting rod but in my opinion you've got to chuck it off the ground to get it loaded properly and I would imagine the guys that can do the pendulum cast will get the full potential out of it. Mind you if you get the timing wrong yer in big trouble. Also it can easily cope with rough ground.

                        Micky,

I have got a greys platinum GSI and found it great, perfect for the fishing up here, I know there have been some bad reports about the greys rods but I have never had any problems with mine. You can usually get the demo ones loads cheaper at Alnwick as well. You can have a chuck with mine when I get home no bother if you want. Otherwise I know two of my mates have got sonik's and are very happy with them! Either way supporting local employers!

                        Graham.
