To be honest I think you are looking at Coalies, Flatties and in the right conditions the odd Bass if you are summer shore fishing round Hartlepool. Same if you head north to Horden with the chance of a Thornback or Doggie if you put the hours in.
For summer codding you need to be looking at the Tyne or South Shields for fish around the 1lb to 2lb stamp, further north onto the Northumberland rock and kelp marks for the chance of a better summer fish.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

as already said ul be scratching in summer usally mate around hartlepool even the rock edges dont often produce codling in summer, plenty of flattys and whities after dark in summer after a stir up from the piers. or go to st abbs etc for the kelpys as stated or go out on the boats they have done really well the last couple of seasons. with baited feathers early part on the ground up north then later on in summer to the wrecks and skiningrove to the east for big ling and cod on shads and jiggers etc. evelyn jane done really really well last summer. if you need any numbers for charters give me a p.m

as been said m8 st.abbs, eyemouth, berwick & holyisland ect but u dont have 2 go that far north m8, just south of tyne & north of the tyne.
reddies from tynemouth all the way northwards i love my summer reddie fishing & have reddies to 5 & 6lb biggest 8lb all local 2 me.
pully rigs with fresh peeler crab is the killer in among the thickest kelp ya can find.
