just wondered if it would be ok to use a 2oz lead on a 50 grm rated rod or would it be too heavy ? cheers for any replies ..... bob

Depends totally on the rod mate... Some blanks are happy casting above the stated weight as the manufacturer builds in a bit of leeway. Other rods hopelessly over state there saying weights. Give it a go with a light cast and I'm sure you will feel of the blank will take it. At such a light weight I can't imagine that it would be much of an issue mate."In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

Once again thanks for the replies , I have tried the rod out on the local field and it cast 2ozs 35-40 yds every cast with no problems. I used 30lb b/s straight through to be on the safe side....Bob BTW the rod is a9ft shakey telescopic.and coped really well.Its now going in the case to go on holiday to puerto pollensaLast edited by BGEE; 29-09-2015, 05:39 PM.
