  • Bamburgh area advice please

Alright lads. Got a few days up there in a couple of weeks and the long range forecast reckons big northerlies. I know it'll probably end up flat but if it is big, any suggestions for low and high water marks? I know Beabnell quite well and will go there in any SE but it weeds up in a northerly so any advice on Newton or Sugar Sands which I've never fished but love the look of. Be fishing over 2 and a half days night and day and don't wanna waste my time trying likely looking shots if I can get some info on likely marks instead. Happy to travel 15 miles either side of Bamburgh. Cheers in advance. Also, sorry, one last thing- just to the left of Craster harbour, there's an outcrop about 70 yards out and a likely looking gulley between that and the shore- any ideas if that's a mark and when it fishes?

The place you're referring to at Craster (i think) is the island, gets cut off on bigger tides but you can wade across if you're careful. Probably not advised if you haven't fished it before.

Low Newton is a good spot, park in the car park near the small church (Saint Marys) and walk along the path next to church until you hit the sea, you'll go over a cattle grid. Anywhere down to your right is a good chuck, heavy kelp in places but i like it there. If you do fish it, don't go to close to the beach as there's a massive ridge / reef about 50 yards out and it'll steal all your gear, you'll see it on a low tide tho - Stay close to the end of the headland. However you might face the same problem with the weed. The left hand side is cleaner ground but I've never had nowt out of there.

Some of the other lads might be able to help too

Cheers Phil that's spot on. Is that headland the one at the North end of Embleton? If so I had a look the other day and I THINK the hole on the north side of the headland is football hole??
