  • Last Three Sessions.

    Festive greetings to all!

Well the time to return back to work in Arbroath is nearly upon me and unfortunately for the whole length of my leave the Cod have been....somewhere else!

I fished leisurely alongside some friends who were fishing a service competition over three days. We fished Table Rock in Usan. This was my first visit to Usan.

I didn't hold much hope of the Cod showing, as the sea was slight and this was during the week the Cod seemed to dissapear, from both North and South of the border.

I managed the heaviest fish of the night at 3lb. I lost three from the same spot. One defended itself well and duely cut me off against the heavy ground. Dismay, but then remedied this by stroking the 3lber on chill in the rock pool.

During my time at home I have ventured out twice. Once with Kieth and once for a strange old session with Lee, who unfortunately didn't have the session we thought earlier in the season, we were going to have. Sorry mate!

We fished from the South of the Half Moon Skeer, along the rock ledge just to the North of Whitley Bay pipe. The movement in the water appeared to be spot on but it was not to be.

Kieth and I fished the day before Christmas Eve and that did not produce either!

I am going to get out at least once more before going back to work, potentially twice for some bumper sessions!

The lack of Cod is disheartening but when/if they do come back close in, someone who has ventured out, is going to have a cracking session.

There is always a chance of connecting with a cracker just roaming about too. Bearing in mind, the numbers of double figure fish pulled in between Tynemouth and Whitley Bay.

I was out walking the dog today (the white one called Royal) and ventured along the rocks to talk to a gentlemen fishing with his friend near the mark Lobster Pots, to the North of King Edward's Bay. He showed me a cracking picture of a Cod he had from Cambois and was a pleasant fellow.
I also saw a gentleman setting up on Castle Rocks below Tynemouth Priory.
Great to see three lad's out during the day giving it a shot. If your on WSF or NESA I'd love to know how you got.

After I have been out I will post the results either way!

    All the best to everyone,

    Wayne.

      Cheers!

      Cheers!

I'm mentally preparing myself for two sessions over two full tides. I really had hoped for some outstanding Cod this Winter, after the year Kieth and I have had locally and at Eyemouth.

This is my last shot over leave but will manage sessions when I cross the border North.

It would appear from WSF that some excellent Cod have started reappearing in the last few days. Maybe our local Cod are just slower swimmers!
