dont know what I should go for, I tend to fish off piers but do enjoy fishing off the beach and would like to get more into this, but am sick of running away from the waves like a little girl, any advice would be great i've got about £40-50 to spend I know that is nt much, but I am currently trying to save to upgrade all my gear from the basic / entry level gear I started with.

If you want to fish beaches more then waders are a must mate - you gain extra yards on the shallow venues by the fact you can wade out...Blyth for exampleOoh a new vid!

I've got a Sundridge Entec2 floatie and wear Muckboot wellies underneath. Together they keep me lovely and warm and totally dry. Ditched the neoprene chesties as my feet used to freeze in them. Bit over your budget I know but with cold wether gear you get what you pay for and besides - expensive gear doesn't catch you more fish but being warm and comfortable on the beach or pier might.
With the wellies and floatie I've been caught by a few waves that have gone over my knees and they have kept me dry - you are fine as long as you are not standing in the surf for a period of time. If you are struggling for distance from shallow beaches then get some casting lessons - far safer than wading out into the surf to cast especially after dark.Last edited by Stewart 1971; 21-12-2010, 03:02 PM.CLIP IT AND WHACK ITComment

you can pick up waders from nettos/liddle for around 20pound when they've got the fishing stuff in. ive had mine for nearly a year and work perfect, 100% waterproff and alot cheaper than other waders.Comment

id say flotation suit and wellies as the benifits of having a flotation suit speaks for its self . ive just bought an imax one and tonite ive bought a pair ov 40.00 pound wellies thermal lined to me warmth is the main aspect ov fishing in the winter u can fish longer and wont be dishartend . ive no idea about waders id say they were for the summer but i can see the pros ov having them beeing able to enter the water to cast further but to me id rather keep well away from the water in the dark if pos but thats just my view soory for nattering on but just sum helpfull info about the way iv gone .

Running away from the waves like a little girl, LOL will keep you alive. Have a look for the Bison Marine Floation suit £50.00 well worth the money. I have fished down to -10c with this & just joggers & a t-shirt very warm. save the waders for daytime in the summer.Comment

I have both.
Waders second hand off e-bay but leak around crotch. Mind they are ok for the beach as i don,t wade that far out. But on the flat beach like Parton you can gain quite some extra distance. They are also warm. Tend to wear them for the beach with my floatation suit jacket.
Disadvantage is they can make you sweat quite a lot,awkward for having a pee, Hard work walking in them some distance.
Generally aim for the suit and wellies as they are more comfortable and its easier when walking some distance.
Personally i,d invest in both.

iv got th snowbee granets mate they are good for the summer but me feet freeze in the winter so jus use a set ov muck boots when iam out and about fishingComment

personally I wouldn't buy second hand waders - it'd be like wearing a pair of second hand kegs
neoprene waders aren't for summer angling - been there done that and lost a stone in sweat
layer up well underneath and you'll be warm and dry and you'll have no fear of getting your feet wet...floatys are good for the pier anglers but not for the beaches/rocks IMHOOoh a new vid!
