Sounds about right mate, I always push together with one firm action (the rod) to make sure it's home properly. I hold the butt section (of the rod) vertically and against the ground to ensure when pushing the tip section in (of the rod) it goes all the way. Mind you, you may need a helping hand to part them after the end of a session (fishing session) as the joint can be tight, it can depend on the temperature. I've read that you can bed the joint in by applying a grease lubricant and rotating for a couple of hours which makes assembly and disassembly of the joint much easier. Hope this helps.

be careful mate my ttr was a nightmare and went back to century twice the spigit would go in about half way then jam and i couldnt move it either in or out.. i got another butt for it and the same happened again so it went back to century yet again and it came back the other day and it fits nice now and doesnt jam up. i no i could of probably sanded it down a bit with wet and dry but it seamed as if the spigot ( male section ) was bent or twisted so instead of messing about and making it worse i let them sort it out. i dont like these new spigots with the stainless band around them. they look bonny but they arnt anyt betterr

Don't use any abrasive compound on the joint or you'll f**ck the rod. If you've got doubts about the fit then do as coddy did and take it back to the dealer who will in turn have century check it out. But as I said press firmly together with one strong solid push and you'll know it's properly home. If you aint got it all the way home and you're a big hitter it might break in mid cast.
